Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Maritime Navigation Specialist to join our Singapore-based operations team. You will lead navigational planning, monitor vessel positioning, and oversee bridge operations to ensure the safest and most efficient voyages.

In this role, you will work with state-of-the-art navigation systems including ECDIS, ARPA, radar, and AIS, delivering accurate voyage planning, weather routing, chart updates, and navigational risk assessments. You will collaborate with the bridge team and shore operations to maintain top-tier safety and performance standards.

Responsibility

  • Lead real-time navigational planning and execution using ARPA, ECDIS, radar, and AIS to ensure safe passage and optimal routes.
  • Monitor vessel positions, headings, weather data, and chart updates; adjust voyage plans as conditions change.
  • Coordinate with bridge teams for safe navigation, watchkeeping, and information handovers during port and offshore operations.
  • Conduct navigational risk assessments, apply COLREGs and SOLAS standards, and implement mitigations.
  • Maintain and calibrate navigational equipment, ensuring ECDIS charts are current and validated.
  • Prepare comprehensive voyage plans, weather routing, fuel optimization, and contingency procedures.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior navigational officers and crew; promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science, Maritime Studies, or equivalent; STCW-compliant and active ocean-going license (OOW/Master) recognized in Singapore or international equivalents.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional navigation experience on merchant ships, with demonstrated ARPA and ECDIS proficiency.
  • Strong proficiency with voyage planning software, weather routing, AIS, radar, and chart maintenance.
  • Solid knowledge of SOLAS, COLREGs, IALA buoyage, and international navigational standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities; ability to work under pressure and in rotating shifts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Fluent in English; capable of coordinating with multilingual crews and shore teams.
