SeaWay Maritime Solutions is seeking a seasoned Maritime Navigation Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize navigation technology used by our global fleet. You will champion safe and efficient voyages by integrating state-of-the-art systems such as ECDIS, ARPA, AIS, and radar, and by collaborating with ship crews, port authorities, and software teams.
In this role you will drive system reliability, champion data-driven decision making, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple vessels and platforms. Responsibility
- Lead deployment and integration of navigation systems (ECDIS, ARPA, AIS, radar) across fleet assets and port interfaces.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for voyage planning, safety checks, and contingency navigation.
- Configure and optimize ECDIS and radar overlays to enhance route accuracy and situational awareness.
- Analyze voyage and system data to identify efficiency gains, fuel savings, and risk mitigation opportunities.
- Provide technical support and training to ship crews and shore teams; drive knowledge transfer and competency development.
- Collaborate with vendors and port authorities on system upgrades, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
- Support incident investigations related to navigation system performance and contribute to lessons learned.
- Participate in business continuity planning for navigation-critical systems and emergency response drills.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in nautical science, maritime engineering, electronics, or a related field; masterβs preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in maritime navigation systems or bridge operations with hands-on work on ECDIS, ARPA, AIS, and radar.
- Strong knowledge of SOLAS, STCW, and applicable maritime regulations and standards.
- Proficiency with navigation software and tools (ECDIS, Navis, MaxSea or equivalent); data analytics capability is a plus.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and cross-cultural collaboration skills; experience training crews and partners required.
- Willingness to travel for training and project work up to 20-30% depending on assignment.
- Professional certifications in marine navigation or electronic navigation systems are preferred.
