MotorWorks Automotive Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our fast-paced shop in Detroit, Michigan. As a core member of our service team, you'll diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of passenger vehicles and light trucks to factory specifications, while delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibility
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to factory specifications across engines, transmissions, and diagnostic systems.
- Perform routine maintenance including preventive service, oil changes, fluid checks, and tire services.
- Diagnose electrical, computer, and systems issues using diagnostic tools and scan equipment.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals to complete repairs accurately.
- Complete accurate service reports, parts orders, and time entries in the shop management system.
- Communicate findings with customers and provide guidance on repairs and maintenance options.
- Ensure work area safety, proper tool calibration, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Mentor junior technicians and uphold quality standards to drive continuous improvement.
Qualification
- ASE certification preferred; equivalent hands-on experience accepted.
- 3+ years of automotive repair experience in a shop or dealership setting.
- Strong knowledge of engines, drivetrains, braking, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and manuals.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and lift up to 50 lbs; physically capable of sustained performance.
