Job description
Atlas Defense Solutions is seeking a seasoned Military Program Manager to lead complex defense programs from inception to delivery. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and interface with government stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-spec outcomes. This role requires a proactive leader with a track record in DoD program execution, strong risk management, and exceptional stakeholder communication.
Location: Norfolk, VA with on-site collaboration and occasional travel to customer sites as required.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end lifecycle of defense programs from concept through delivery, ensuring milestones, schedules, and quality requirements are met.
- Develop and manage program budgets, cost estimates, and resource plans; monitor financial performance (EAC, burn rates) and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with government stakeholders, prime contractors, and subcontractors; maintain documentation such as CDRLs, meeting minutes, and status reports.
- Develop and manage program schedules using industry-standard tools; identify and mitigate schedule risks; manage critical path activities.
- Lead risk management, issue resolution, and change control processes; maintain comprehensive risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Oversee supplier performance, contract enforcement, and vendor risk to ensure compliance with DoD requirements.
- Ensure security, compliance, and information safeguarding for sensitive programs; support clearance processes and required certifications.
- Mentor and develop cross-functional teams; provide clear communication to executive leadership and clients on program status and milestones.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems, or a related field; Master's preferred.
- 7+ years of program management experience in defense, government contracting, or DoD programs.
- Active or eligible for DoD security clearance; ability to obtain and maintain required clearances.
- Solid knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, budgeting, scheduling, and earned value management (EVM).
- Proven leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Jira) and data-driven decision making.
- Travel readiness (approximately 10-15% of time) to support program needs.
- DAWIA/PM certification or equivalent certification is a plus.
