Responsibility
- Oversee daily museum operations, facilities, security, and safety compliance to ensure a welcoming and accessible visitor experience.
- Lead collections management initiatives in collaboration with curators, registrars, and conservators; supervise storage, documentation, and accessioning.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, financial controls, and fundraising strategies in partnership with the development team.
- Lead exhibit planning and program development, including temporary and permanent displays, educational programs, and community partnerships.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage staff and volunteers; foster a culture of inclusion and professional development.
- Engage with donors, government agencies, and community leaders to broaden support and visibility of the museum.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, accreditation, and ethical guidelines.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, History, Arts Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in museum administration, cultural nonprofit management, or a similarly complex operation.
- Demonstrated experience with collections management systems, exhibitions, and donor stewardship.
- Strong budgeting, grant writing, and fundraising skills with a track record of securing funding.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities across diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of AAM Standards for Museum Management and ethics, accessibility requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
