The Museum Operations Manager will oversee daily operations, facilities, security, and visitor services to ensure a premier guest experience. Responsibility
- Oversee daily museum operations, including visitor services, facilities, security, and safety protocols to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
- Manage annual budgeting, cost controls, vendor contracts, and procurement for operations and exhibitions.
- Lead facilities maintenance and capital projects, ensuring compliance with safety, accessibility, and building codes.
- Collaborate with curatorial teams and educators to plan exhibitions, programs, and events that engage diverse audiences.
- Coordinate risk management, incident response, and emergency preparedness across all museum departments.
- Supervise operations staff, volunteers, and security personnel; recruit, train, and performance-manage to ensure service excellence.
- Oversee visitor services, group reservations, accessibility services, and digital experiences to maximize attendance and satisfaction.
- Partner with development and marketing teams to support fundraising events and community outreach.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration, History, or a related field; master's preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in museum operations, facilities management, or a similar role in a museum or cultural institution.
- Proven experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
- Strong knowledge of safety, accessibility, and risk management standards; OSHA/ADA familiarity preferred.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills; experience supervising diverse staff and volunteers.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement abilities; comfortable interacting with donors, researchers, and the public.
- Project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Proficiency in museum software (TMS or equivalent) and MS Office; data-driven mindset with a passion for visitor experience.
