As the Museum Operations Manager, you will partner with curatorial, education, development, and security teams to ensure safe, accessible, and engaging experiences for every visitor while upholding the museum's standards of excellence and accessibility.

In this role, you will drive operational excellence, optimize resources, and cultivate a culture of inclusivity and continuous improvement.

Responsibility

  • Oversee daily museum operations, including facilities, security, visitor services, and front-of-house scheduling.
  • Lead facilities management, environmental controls, vendor contracts, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Administer budgeting, procurement, and financial reporting; align with fundraising goals and grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with curatorial and education teams to plan exhibitions, programming, and community outreach.
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance visitor experience, accessibility, and inclusivity.
  • Coach, mentor, and manage operations staff; oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

Qualification

  • Master's degree in Museum Studies, Public History, Arts Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in a museum or cultural institution.
  • Strong background in facilities management, security, collections care basics, and visitor services.
  • Demonstrated budgeting, financial planning, procurement, and grant reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage change, and build a collaborative culture.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, risk management, and compliance; familiarity with collections databases is a plus.
