Are you a strategic, operations-minded leader with a passion for culture and public engagement? Aurora Museum & Cultural Center seeks a Museum Operations Manager to oversee daily museum operations, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences while safeguarding our collections and advancing community programs.
In this role, you will partner with curatorial teams, education staff, and external partners to streamline operations, supervise staff, manage budgets, and drive initiatives that expand access to our exhibits and events.
Responsibility
- Oversee daily operations, facilities, security, and visitor services to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
- Manage operational budgets, vendor contracts, and procurement with a focus on efficiency and cost control.
- Lead staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management for the operations team.
- Collaborate with curatorial, education, and development teams to plan and execute engaging exhibitions and programs.
- Develop and implement museum policies, safety protocols, accessibility standards, and risk management plans.
- Monitor KPIs for visitor experience, attendance, and revenue; prepare regular reports for leadership.
- Lead emergency preparedness, incident reporting, and facilities maintenance planning.
- Drive process improvements using data, feedback, and technology to enhance visitor satisfaction.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field; master's preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in museum operations, facilities, or visitor services; prior management experience required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to build cross-departmental teams.
- Proven budget management, procurement, and vendor negotiation experience.
- Knowledge of collections handling, conservation basics, and safety protocols; familiarity with curatorial needs.
- Data-driven mindset with ability to analyze metrics, guest feedback, and operational workflows to drive improvements.
- Experience with accessibility compliance (ADA) and inclusive programming.
- Proficiency with museum management software, ticketing systems, CRM, and MS Office.
