Job description
The Beacon Hill Museum is seeking a strategic, results-driven Museum Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations, enhance visitor experiences, and steward the organization's mission. This role blends operations, exhibits support, team leadership, and community engagement in a dynamic museum setting.
As a member of the leadership team, you will partner with curatorial, development, and education colleagues to ensure seamless daily operations, safe facilities, and welcoming experiences for visitors, students, and researchers.
Responsibility
- Oversee daily museum operations including facilities, security, and safety compliance.
- Lead exhibition preparation, installation, de-installation, and courier coordination in collaboration with curatorial and conservation teams.
- Manage visitor services, membership programs, and frontline staff training to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Oversee budgeting, procurement, vendor relationships, and performance metrics across departments.
- Develop and execute programs, events, and community outreach to increase attendance and engagement.
- Collaborate with development and partnerships teams to support fundraising events and grant reporting.
- Ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and adherence to professional museum standards and risk management.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, History, Arts Administration, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 5+ years in museum operations, facilities management, or related leadership roles.
- Proven experience in budgeting, fundraising, grants, and stakeholder management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills; ability to manage diverse teams.
- Knowledge of collections handling, exhibition logistics, installation, and cataloging.
- Familiarity with safety, security, accessibility, and risk management standards.
- Proficiency with museum management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
