Join a premier cultural institution dedicated to preserving and presenting our shared heritage. Heritage Nexus Museum is seeking a dynamic Museum Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, support collections care, and lead engaging public programs.
As a member of our leadership team, you will collaborate with curators, educators, and development professionals to ensure operational excellence, robust visitor services, and compliant, sustainable museum practices that inspire and educate our community.
Responsibility
- Oversee daily museum operations, including admissions, front-of-house services, security, facilities maintenance, and safety compliance.
- Lead collections care support by coordinating storage, handling, exhibition logistics, and condition reporting in collaboration with curators and conservators.
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets for departments under operations, monitoring expenses and optimizing resource use.
- Design and implement visitor experience improvements, audience engagement initiatives, and accessible programming in line with institutional goals.
- Supervise, train, and mentor operations staff and volunteers; establish performance metrics and professional development plans.
- Coordinate with development and marketing teams on events, sponsorships, memberships, and fundraising activities.
- Ensure compliance with museum ethics, regulatory standards, and emergency preparedness and safety protocols.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Archaeology, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in museum operations, facilities management, or collections support, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and strategic planning skills; demonstrated ability to deliver programs on time and within budget.
- Experience with collections management systems (e.g., TMS, PastPerfect, EMu) and digital asset management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner with curators, educators, development, and external partners.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in programs and operations.
- Knowledge of museum ethics, donor relations, and grant administration is a plus.
