As a Notary Public and Signing Agent, you will provide essential notarial acts, ensure privacy and security of documents, and help clients navigate the signing process with professionalism and care. What you will do is perform in-person notarial acts, verify identity, maintain accurate journals, and ensure all certificates comply with California law. You will also travel to client sites as needed and collaborate with lenders, attorneys, and real estate professionals to support smooth closings.
Responsibility
- Perform notarial acts including acknowledgments, jurats, oaths, and affirmations in accordance with California law.
- Verify signer identities using approved methods and maintain meticulous notary journal records.
- Prepare, review, and affix accurate notarial certificates on documents requiring notarization.
- Travel to client locations or events to facilitate signings and ensure timely completion.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Certify copies of documents where legally permitted and permissible by state law.
- Communicate clearly with clients, lenders, and attorneys to explain notarial requirements and next steps.
- Adhere to ethical standards and compliance policies to minimize risk and protect client interests.
Qualification
- Current California Notary Public commission in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of notary experience or strong equivalent background
- Errors and Omissions insurance or willingness to obtain
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
- Strong written and spoken communication skills and superior customer service
- Ability to travel within the San Francisco Bay Area and work flexible hours
- Familiarity with notary software and maintaining electronic journals where permitted
- Background check and compliance with industry standards
