Join a premier physics research team at Lumina Quantum Institute in Cambridge, MA. We are seeking a Physics Research Scientist to design and execute experiments in quantum materials and condensed matter systems.
You will work closely with theory and engineering colleagues to interpret results, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to grant proposals.
Responsibility
- Design and conduct experiments in quantum materials and condensed matter physics.
- Develop data analysis pipelines using Python, MATLAB, and specialized software.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including cryogenics and vacuum systems, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Interpret experimental results, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and present findings internally and externally.
- Mentor graduate students and junior researchers; contribute to training and onboarding.
- Contribute to grant proposals and prepare manuscripts for publication.
Qualification
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent postdoctoral research experience.
- Strong experimental background in condensed matter physics and spectroscopy.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Experience with vacuum systems, cryogenics, cryostats, and safety protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Proven track record of publications and presentations.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
