We are seeking a results-driven Plant Extract Process Engineer to join PT. NEWTREND NUTRITION INGREDIENT. This contract role is based in Karawang, West Java, and offers the opportunity to influence product quality and manufacturing efficiency through hands-on process development and optimization. You will work with cross-functional teams to scale up plant extraction processes for high quality ingredient products, ensuring safety, compliance and operational excellence. You will collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance and Operations teams to translate scientific insights into scalable, cost-effective production processes.
Responsibility
- Design, optimize and scale up plant extraction processes for food-grade ingredients, ensuring product quality and yield targets.
- Validate extraction steps from lab to pilot to full-scale production with proper documentation and batch records.
- Monitor critical process parameters, troubleshoot deviations, and lead CAPA investigations to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with R&D, QA, and production to implement process improvements that meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams and equipment specifications.
- Ensure GMP, HACCP, and local regulatory compliance in all extraction operations and waste management.
- Provide technical training and support to operations staff and participate in periodic internal and external audits.
- Support cost optimization initiatives while maintaining product quality and yield.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Bioprocess, or a related discipline.
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in plant extraction or related manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety and environmental health and safety standards.
- Proficiency in data analysis, process optimization, and documentation management (SOPs, batch records).
- Experience with validation, qualification, and deviation investigations; familiar with CAPA processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work in a contract role in Karawang and travel to line locations as needed (no relocation required).
- Proficiency in Indonesian; working knowledge of English is a plus.
