As a Police Officer in New York, you will play a critical role in patrol operations, emergency response, and community engagement across diverse neighborhoods.
Responsibility
- Patrol assigned beats to deter crime and ensure public safety for residents and visitors.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents, assess risk, and provide appropriate, lawful actions.
- Enforce traffic and criminal laws; conduct traffic stops and issue citations when warranted.
- Investigate incidents, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and document findings in official reports.
- Collaborate with community members, schools, businesses, and partner agencies to prevent crime and improve trust.
- Prepare detailed case files, testify in court when required, and maintain accurate records.
- Engage in ongoing training on de-escalation, use-of-force policies, and physical fitness.
Qualification
- Minimum age of 21 at time of application; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
- High school diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to meet state requirements for police work.
- Completion of an accredited police academy or current law enforcement certification; or willingness to enroll.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical exam, drug screening, and fitness assessment.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) valued; commitment to ethical conduct and community service.
