Responsibility
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service to protect life and property.
- Conduct investigations, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and document findings.
- Enforce traffic laws, perform traffic stops, and investigate collisions.
- Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain case files in accordance with policy.
- Engage in community policing activities and build trust with diverse neighborhoods.
- Testify in court and present evidence as required.
- Participate in ongoing training, fitness, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other agencies on regional public safety initiatives.
Qualification
- Minimum age 21; U.S. citizenship; valid driver license.
- High school diploma or GED; college credits or degree preferred.
- Completion of approved police academy or TCOLE certification or ability to obtain within probation period.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision making skills.
- Ability to pass physical fitness, medical, and background checks; clean disciplinary record.
- Residency or willingness to relocate to the Austin area preferred.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, de-escalation and community engagement.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
