Responsibility
- Patrol assigned areas to deter crime, enforce laws, and provide a visible presence that reassures the community.
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and calls for service with speed, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Investigate incidents, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare clear, accurate reports.
- Conduct traffic stops, enforce traffic laws, and promote road safety through education and enforcement.
- Engage with diverse communities to build trust, gather information, and promote public safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with other agencies and participate in training to stay current on procedures and technologies.
- Complete required documentation, case management, and data entry with precision and accountability.
- Utilize fitness and wellness programs to maintain peak physical readiness and resilience.
Qualification
- U.S. citizen or legally eligible to work in the United States; minimum age 21 at time of appointment
- High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred but not required
- Valid New York State driver's license (or eligible for NY license)
- Clean criminal history; ability to pass background investigation and polygraph as applicable
- Successful completion of physical fitness assessment and medical examination
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to pass written examination and oral interview; commitment to ethical standards
