Responsibility
- Respond to emergency calls and incidents with calm, rapid assessment and decisive action.
- Patrol assigned precincts to deter crime, enforce laws, and engage positively with residents.
- Conduct investigations, collect and preserve evidence, and prepare timely, accurate reports.
- Collaborate with detectives, supervisors, and external agencies to solve cases and share critical information.
- Perform traffic enforcement, enforce transportation laws, and promote roadway safety.
- Provide crowd control and incident management during public events and demonstrations.
- Engage in ongoing training on de-escalation, use-of-force policies, and community policing strategies.
Qualification
- Minimum high school diploma or GED; preferred bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field.
- Active law enforcement certification or eligibility to obtain certification in Illinois.
- Strong physical fitness, stamina, and the ability to pass police physical agility tests.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated integrity, ethics, and commitment to serving diverse communities.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and safe driving history.
