Responsibility
- Patrol assigned neighborhoods and monitor for criminal activity to deter crime and ensure public safety
- Respond to emergencies, traffic incidents, and calls for service with prompt, professional conduct
- Investigate incidents, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and document findings
- Enforce laws, traffic regulations, and departmental policies while upholding civil rights
- Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain meticulous case documentation
- Engage with the community to build trust, conduct outreach, and participate in crime prevention programs
- Collaborate with other agencies and units on investigations and special assignments
- Maintain physical fitness, continual training, and professional development
Qualification
- Minimum age 21 at time of appointment and U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status
- High school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred
- Valid California driver license and acceptable driving record
- Successful completion of basic police academy or current eligibility for sworn officer status
- Strong physical fitness and ability to pass fitness standards
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to pass background investigation, polygraph, and psychological screening
