Responsibility
- Patrol assigned beat to deter crime, enforce laws, and provide visible public safety presence.
- Respond to emergency calls and incidents, assess threats, provide first aid, and coordinate with other responders.
- Conduct preliminary investigations, collect evidence, and preserve the scene for follow-up.
- Prepare accurate, timely reports and maintain organized case files for internal review and court proceedings.
- Engage with community members, schools, businesses, and neighborhood associations to promote crime prevention and trust.
- Collaborate with fellow officers and supervisors to manage incidents, traffic safety, and special events.
- Utilize data systems for records management, analytics, and performance metrics; maintain equipment and comply with policy.
- Participate in ongoing training, firearms qualification, physical fitness, and professional development as required.
Qualification
- U.S. citizenship or legal right to work and ability to obtain and maintain Peace Officer certification (POST) or equivalent.
- High school diploma or GED; two- or four-year degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a vehicle under diverse conditions.
- Successful completion of Basic Peace Officer Training (P.O.S.T) or enrollment in an accredited academy; willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong communication, written and verbal, with excellent attention to detail and ethics.
- Ability to pass back-ground check, drug screening, medical exam, and physical fitness assessments; capable of performing essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays; demonstrate teamwork, adaptability, and sound judgment.
