Job description
The Novus Institute for Advanced Studies invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to advance data-driven education research using large-scale datasets and modern analytics. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary team to design, implement, and evaluate predictive models and visualizations that inform policy and practice in higher education and K-12 contexts. Responsibility
- Design and implement data pipelines for education-related datasets (e.g., student performance, assessment data) and ensure reproducible research workflows.
- Develop and validate statistical and machine learning models to answer research questions in education analytics.
- Conduct rigorous data cleaning, quality control, and exploratory data analysis; document methods and code.
- Collaborate with faculty on project planning, experimental design, and dissemination of results through manuscripts and presentations.
- Prepare visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to researchers, policymakers, and educators.
- Contribute to grant proposals and manage portions of funded projects as needed.
Qualification
- PhD in Education Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or near completion).
- Strong programming skills in Python or R; experience with SQL and data visualization tools.
- Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and experimental design in educational settings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage data privacy and compliance with IRB protocols.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; track record of scientific publications.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams; strong organizational skills.
- Experience with cloud-based data processing (e.g., AWS, GCP) is a plus.
