Join Malayan Flour Mills, a leading name in Malaysia's grain processing and flour production industry, as a Production Engineer (Flour Milling) in Pasir Gudang, Johor. This role focuses on translating the production plan into precise wheat intake, cleaning, and milling operations with high accuracy and efficiency. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize throughput, ensure product quality, and drive continuous improvement across the milling line.
As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and executing daily production schedules for wheat handling, milling, and packaging, monitoring equipment performance, and coordinating with maintenance and QA to minimize downtime and waste. You will analyze process data to identify optimization opportunities, implement Lean and Six Sigma principles where applicable, and ensure compliance with food safety and environmental standards.
You will collaborate with suppliers, process engineers, and quality assurance to ensure raw materials meet specifications and are stored properly. Responsibility
- Plan and execute daily production schedules for wheat intake, cleaning, milling, and packing to meet target outputs while maintaining quality.
- Monitor milling equipment performance, throughput, downtime, and maintenance activities; coordinate with the maintenance team for timely improvements.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality systems including HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, and EHS standards.
- Analyze process data to optimize throughput, reduce waste and energy consumption, and drive continuous improvement initiatives on the milling line.
- Collaborate with QA, procurement, and production teams to ensure raw materials meet specifications and are handled and stored correctly.
- Troubleshoot production issues, implement corrective actions, and document changes to prevent recurrence.
- Support and lead small improvement projects or automation initiatives related to the flour milling process.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift handovers, and KPI reporting to senior engineering and operations management.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in flour milling or food processing production environments.
- Solid knowledge of wheat milling processes, grain handling, cleaning, roller mills, sifters, and product specification controls.
- Experience with HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP and food safety standards; familiarity with EHS compliance.
- Strong analytical skills, data-driven decision making, and proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP or SCADA is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities; able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and on multiple shifts.
