Excelitas Technologies is a leading global provider of photonics and optoelectronic solutions. We are seeking a Production Technician to join our Assembly team in Boon Lay, Singapore. In this role you will participate in building and testing complex optical and electro mechanical assemblies, including precision polishing, optical testing, calibration measurements, and integrating sub assemblies into final products. You will contribute to meeting customer specifications and delivering reliable, high performance devices used across medical, industrial, and aerospace markets. This position is ideal for hands on contributors who enjoy turning scientific concepts into tangible, high quality hardware and who thrive in a structured manufacturing environment. You will gain exposure to advanced optics, micro-mechanics, and the full product life cycle, from component preparation to final validation.
You will work with a cross functional team that includes design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance professionals. Your responsibilities include following standard operating procedures, adhering to cleanroom and ESD requirements, maintaining detailed process documentation, and ensuring traceability of all components. You will use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, alignment jigs, and optical test rigs to verify dimensions, surface quality, and functional performance. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement will help you grow in a dynamic setting that values innovation and teamwork. You will also participate in internal training programs and contribute to process improvements that reduce waste and improve yield.

Responsibility
- Assemble and align optical and mechanical components according to documented procedures
- Perform precision polishing and surface finishing as required
- Execute optical and functional tests using measurement equipment and test rigs
- Maintain accurate assembly records, part traceability, and documentation in the MES/ERP system
- Inspect parts for quality, identify defects, and escalate issues to engineering/QA
- Set up, calibrate, and operate tools and fixtures; perform routine preventive maintenance
- Adhere to cleanroom, ESD, and safety protocols; contribute to a safe work environment
- Collaborate with engineers and QA to resolve issues and improve processes
Qualification
- Diploma or technical degree in mechanical engineering, optics, physics, or related field; or equivalent experience
- Experience with optical or electronics assembly and test in a manufacturing setting
- Proficiency with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and optical test equipment
- Familiarity with cleanroom practices, ESD protection, and standard quality systems (ISO 9001)
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and bill of materials; strong attention to detail
- Strong problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills; ability to follow SOPs
- Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as required
