We’re seeking a Publishing Editor to lead editorial projects from concept through production. This is a collaborative, fast‑paced role that values sharp judgment, editorial creativity, and meticulous project management.
As Publishing Editor, you will partner with authors, editors, designers, and marketers to ensure every title meets our high standards and resonates with readers in today’s market.
Responsibility
- Own the full editorial lifecycle for assigned titles, from acquisition and manuscript development to final proofs and print-ready files.
- Edit and shape manuscripts for clarity, structure, voice, and market fit.
- Develop and maintain editorial calendars; coordinate with authors, agents, and internal teams to meet publication timelines.
- Oversee production timelines, collaborating with designers, copyeditors, and printers to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
- Ensure high-quality metadata, indexing, and SEO-friendly content for print and digital formats.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales to craft compelling jacket copy, summaries, and marketing assets.
- Maintain brand voice and editorial standards across all titles; build strong author relationships.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Publishing, Communications, or a related field.
- 3+ years of editorial or publishing experience with a proven track record.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and copyediting skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with CMS, production workflows, and metadata management.
- Excellent writing and communication abilities; adept at collaborating across departments.
- Solid project management and multitasking skills; ability to manage multiple titles and deadlines.
- Knowledge of rights, royalties, ISBNs, copyright, and legal considerations in publishing.
- Portfolio of edited titles or published work; ability to demonstrate market awareness and taste.
