Join Eastern Pines Press as a Publishing Editor, where you will oversee editorial direction, manage production timelines, and ensure our books reach readers with precision and impact. This role blends content strategy, rigorous editing, and collaboration with authors, designers, and marketing teams.
What you’ll do: lead editorial planning, coordinate with authors, and steward manuscripts from submission to publishing, ensuring quality and brand consistency across print and digital formats. Responsibility
- Oversee editorial planning for multiple titles, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and release calendars.
- Coordinate with authors, agents, designers, and production teams to drive manuscripts from draft to publication.
- Perform high-level substantive editing, line editing, and copyediting to uphold editorial standards.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to shape launch plans and reader outreach.
- Manage production timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships (proofreaders, copyeditors, illustrators).
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform content strategy and catalog development.
- Negotiate contracts and oversee rights management as needed.
- Ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and quality across digital and print formats.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Publishing, or related field; master’s preferred.
- 5+ years in book publishing or editorial roles with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Strong editing skills: substantive, copyediting, and proofreading with a keen eye for voice and consistency.
- Excellent project management abilities and ability to juggle multiple titles and deadlines.
- Experience with CMS, metadata, EPUB, print-ready PDFs, and production workflows.
- Knowledge of market trends, reader preferences, and rights management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in data analytics and applying insights to editorial strategies.
