Nordic Harvest Foods is a premium producer of plant-based and traditional foods based in Portland, Oregon. We are seeking a results-driven QA Manager to lead quality assurance initiatives across our manufacturing operations. This role reports to the Director of Quality & Compliance and collaborates with Production, Food Safety, R&D, and Supply Chain to ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and taste.
In this role you will implement and maintain HACCP, GMP, SQF, and other quality systems, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of quality from farm to fork.
Responsibility
- Implement and maintain HACCP, GMP, SQF programs across all manufacturing sites and processes.
- Lead QA investigations, CAPAs, and root-cause analysis for product deviations and non-conformances.
- Develop, review, and approve validation protocols, specifications, change controls, and quality documentation.
- Manage supplier quality including supplier qualification, audits, and corrective action tracking.
- Lead product recalls and crisis management, coordinating with regulatory bodies as needed.
- Collaborate with R&D on new product launches and reformulations to ensure quality and safety.
- Monitor quality metrics, trend analysis, and prepare regular performance reports for leadership.
- Train, coach, and mentor QA staff; oversee laboratory operations and equipment maintenance.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of QA/QC experience in food manufacturing; HACCP, SQF, or BRC certification.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA) and labeling requirements.
- Proven experience with quality systems, CAPA, deviation management, and regulatory compliance.
- Data-driven with proficiency in SPC/data analysis; experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and LIMS.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Willingness to travel 10-15% for supplier audits and site assessments.
