We are seeking a motivated Meteorology Specialist to lead weather analysis, improve forecast workflows, and translate complex atmospheric data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders in Seattle and beyond.
What you'll do matters: collaborate with data scientists, forecasters, and engineers to deliver reliable predictions, monitor model performance, and communicate outcomes clearly to non-technical audiences.
Responsibility
- Lead day-to-day weather analysis and forecast product development for client projects across sectors such as energy, transportation, and public safety.
- Design and implement forecast workflows, QC processes, and performance metrics to ensure reliability and transparency.
- Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to deploy weather data pipelines and visualization dashboards.
- Evaluate model outputs (grids, ensembles) and provide timely, actionable guidance to decision-makers.
- Contribute to climate risk assessments and long-term weather trend analyses for clients and internal teams.
- Prepare clear, concise reports, briefings, and technical documentation for non-technical audiences.
Qualification
- B.S. or M.S. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field; PhD is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in forecast operations, weather analytics, or climate research.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R; experience with MATLAB, SQL, and Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience with numerical weather prediction data and tools (NetCDF, GRIB, WRF or similar models).
- Proficiency in data visualization and communicating complex results to diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and written/verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
