As a Senior Meteorologist, you will lead advanced forecasting studies, supervise data-driven projects, and translate complex atmospheric data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
Responsibility
- Lead development and validation of numerical weather prediction (NWP) models and ensemble forecasts for regional applications.
- Design and execute experiments to improve forecast accuracy, precipitation prediction, and severe weather nowcasting.
- Coordinate with researchers, data engineers, and end-users to define requirements and deliverables.
- Oversee data acquisition, quality control, and processing of observational datasets (radar, satellite, surface networks).
- Communicate findings through technical reports, dashboards, and stakeholder presentations.
- Mentor junior meteorologists and foster a culture of robust scientific inquiry.
- Represent the organization in collaborations with universities, government agencies, and industry partners.
- Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
Qualification
- Master's or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of practical meteorology experience with a strong track record in forecasting or climate analytics.
- Expertise in numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, and statistical methods.
- Proficiency with Python, R, MATLAB, and use of meteorological software (WAM, WRF, METPlus, NCO).
- Experience with HPC workflows, cloud computing, and large observational datasets.
- Strong communication skills, ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven project management experience and leadership capabilities.
- U.S. work authorization; willingness to travel as needed.
