Responsibility
- Lead interpretation of numerical weather prediction models and satellite observations to produce accurate forecasts and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain forecasting tools, dashboards, and automation to improve turnaround time and accuracy.
- Prepare daily and multi-day weather briefings for clients across aviation, energy, and public safety sectors.
- Validate model outputs against observations; quantify uncertainty and communicate confidence levels clearly.
- Create clear weather visuals, briefing materials, and executive summaries for diverse audiences.
- Mentor junior meteorologists and contribute to team training programs.
- Collaborate with data scientists to apply machine learning techniques to forecast challenges.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and client meetings, translating complex science into actionable insights.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field (PhD preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on operational meteorology or forecast production experience.
- Proven experience with numerical weather prediction models (e.g., NAM, GFS, ECMWF) and observational data assimilation.
- Proficiency in Python, R, MATLAB, and data visualization tools; ability to build reproducible workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including on-call rotations and tight deadlines.
- Experience with GIS, meteorological software (GrADS, METPlus), and climate/forecast research is a plus.
