We are seeking a Senior Meteorologist and Weather Data Scientist to lead advanced forecasting initiatives, develop predictive models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights to clients in aviation, energy, and transportation.

In this role, you will apply state-of-the-art numerical weather prediction, statistical modeling, and data analytics to produce reliable forecasts and climate risk assessments. You will work closely with product, data engineering, and client success teams to translate complex outputs into clear guidance and decision-ready products.

Responsibility

  • Lead development of numerical weather prediction models and statistical forecasting approaches to deliver accurate, decision-ready forecasts.
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines aggregating observations from weather stations, radar, satellites, and reanalysis datasets.
  • Translate model outputs into actionable guidance for clients with clear uncertainty quantification and communication.
  • Collaborate with product, data engineering, and GIS teams to build forecasting products and dashboards for aviation, energy, and transit sectors.
  • Manage research projects, supervise junior staff, and contribute to model validation, QA, and documentation.
  • Publish findings internally or in peer-reviewed venues and present results to clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor teammates on best practices in meteorology, data science, and software development.

Qualification

  • MS or PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in weather forecasting, atmospheric research, or related data analytics roles.
  • Strong knowledge of numerical weather prediction models (WRF, ECMWF, GFS) and statistical methods.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and SQL; experience with R is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization (Matplotlib, Plotly) and GIS/geospatial analysis; familiarity with NetCDF/GRIB formats.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, GCP) and machine learning methods is a plus.
