Macquarie Group is seeking a Senior Associate, Media and External Communications to join its global corporate communications team. Based in Indonesia, you will shape external messaging, enhance brand reputation, and manage media relations for a leading financial services organization. This role offers the opportunity to work across Asia Pacific with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic communications campaigns that support business priorities, drive awareness of Macquarie's capabilities, and protect the company's reputation in evolving market conditions.
As a key member of the external communications group, you will craft compelling stories, coordinate press materials, monitor media coverage, and provide strategic counsel to senior leaders. You will also manage social media presence, coordinate executive interviews, and partner with regional communications colleagues to ensure messaging consistency across regions. The ideal candidate is a proactive storyteller with strong writing skills, editorial judgment, and a proven track record in corporate communications or public relations within financial services.
Location: Indonesia — this is an in-market role with global exposure. You will collaborate with Macquarie teams around the world to deliver high-impact communications that support business growth, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibility
- Lead external communications and media relations efforts for Macquarie in Indonesia, coordinating with regional teams to amplify corporate narratives.
- Develop and approve press materials including press releases, media statements, Q&As, bylined articles, and executive speeches.
- Manage media monitoring, sentiment analysis, and proactive outreach to journalists and influencers to secure coverage.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on messaging, interview preparation, and media opportunities.
- Plan and execute external communications campaigns aligned with business priorities and product launches.
- Oversee crisis communications readiness, develop playbooks, and coordinate rapid response during reputational events.
- Collaborate with marketing, compliance, legal, and regional communications teams to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in media relations or corporate communications, ideally within financial services.
- Proven track record crafting media-ready content and building relationships with journalists and stakeholders.
- Strong writing and editing skills in English; Bahasa Indonesia fluency is a plus.
- Experience in crisis communications and issue management with calm under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate cross-functional teams, and deliver on tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with digital, social media strategies, and media monitoring tools; data-driven storytelling is a plus.
- Understanding of regulatory and reputational risk considerations in Indonesia or APAC region.
