We are seeking a Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer to lead electrical system design across platforms, ensuring safety, performance, and reliability. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge vehicle architectures, integration with ADAS, power electronics, and vehicle wiring harness development. Location: Detroit, MI with hybrid options.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will drive architectural decisions, own key components of the electrical system, and collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to bring robust, scalable solutions to market. The role blends hands-on design with cross-functional leadership in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibility
- Lead electrical system design for vehicle platforms, including harness topology, power electronics, ECU integration, and constraints verification.
- Develop electrical architectures using models and simulations; ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards such as ISO 26262.
- Collaborate with software and controls teams on ADAS, connectivity, and battery management system integration.
- Create and maintain design documentation, requirements, DVP&R plans, and traceability to program milestones.
- Manage supplier engagement for components, BOM ownership, cost targets, and quality performance.
- Lead vehicle validation, test planning, data analysis, issue isolation, and countermeasure development.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote design for manufacturability and robust production readiness.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of automotive electrical design experience; hands-on experience with ECU integration, wiring harness, and power electronics.
- Strong proficiency with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, Altium or equivalent tools; familiarity with model-based development.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle and hazard analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global team with hybrid work options; valid US work authorization.
