Job description
Momentum AutoTech is seeking a Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer to join our Detroit-based R&D team. You will design and validate electrical architectures for next-generation vehicles, including EV/HEV platforms, power electronics, and ADAS integration. This role offers impact, cutting-edge tech, and a fast-paced, collaborative culture.
Key responsibilities include leading system-level electrical design, developing CAN/LIN/UART communication schemes, and partnering with software, control systems, and safety teams to deliver robust ECU hardware and wire harness solutions.
We offer a competitive compensation package, comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and a clear path to leadership within a high-growth automotive technology company.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and validation of electrical architectures for EV/HEV platforms, including power electronics and control interfaces.
- Develop and validate CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, and UART networks; implement robust diagnostics and fault handling.
- Collaborate with software, controls, mechanical, and safety teams to deliver reliable ECU hardware and wire harness solutions.
- Create and manage system-level requirements, interface specifications, test plans, and verification protocols.
- Conduct hardware-in-the-loop testing, bench measurements, and durability validation to ensure performance targets.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, safety analysis, and traceability across development programs.
- Mentor junior engineers, support supplier engagements, and drive continuous innovation in power electronics and electrical systems.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of automotive electrical/electronic design experience, preferably with EV/HEV platforms.
- Strong expertise in CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, and diagnostic interfaces; experience with AUTOSAR is a plus.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium); hands-on hardware debugging skills.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, test automation, and lab equipment (scope, multimeters, power supplies).
- Knowledge of ISO 26262, functional safety practices, and system-level safety case development.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities; patient, proactive problem solver.
- Authorized to work in the United States and willing to relocate to Detroit if not already located there.
