Job description
NovaDrive Technologies is seeking a Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer to lead electrical architectures for next-generation vehicles. Based in Detroit, MI, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust high-voltage systems, CAN networks, and ECU integration for EV and Hybrid platforms.
In this role, you will design, simulate, and validate electrical systems, define requirements, and mentor junior engineers. A strong background in automotive power electronics, embedded software, and safety standards is essential.
Responsibility
- Design and validate electrical architectures for EV/HEV platforms across propulsion, battery, and body domains.
- Lead CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and vehicle networking integration for ECUs, dashboards, and infotainment systems.
- Develop ECU interfaces and software using MATLAB/Simulink; code in Embedded C/C++ for automotive applications.
- Create requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and perform FMEA/FMECA analyses.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and test teams to support DVP, FAI, and vehicle-level testing.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards (ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, ASPICE) and industry best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, lead design reviews, and maintain thorough design documentation.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Automotive Engineering or related field; 5+ years of industry experience.
- Strong expertise in automotive electrical systems, CAN/CAN FD, LIN, and vehicle networking.
- Experience with ECUs, power electronics, HV systems, and battery management interfaces.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, LabVIEW; hands-on experience with Embedded C/C++ in automotive contexts.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, ASPICE, FMEA/FTA, and V&V methodologies.
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems, implement robust solutions, and document design decisions.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
