DriveTech Motors is seeking a Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer to lead next-generation powertrain development for electrified and internal combustion platforms. The ideal candidate will combine deep engineering expertise with a strategic product mindset to deliver scalable, high-efficiency propulsion systems.
Based in Detroit, MI, you will collaborate with design, controls, and validation teams to define requirements, simulate performance, and validate on-vehicle prototypes.

Responsibility
- Lead powertrain architecture development for ICE, hybrid, and electric propulsion systems.
- Own system-level modeling, simulation, and NVH analyses to optimize efficiency and performance.
- Collaborate with design, controls, and test teams to define requirements and validate prototypes.
- Execute DFMEA/Risk assessment and ensure compliance with ISO 26262 safety processes.
- Coordinate with suppliers on components, test plans, and validation milestones.
- Mentor junior engineers; drive design reviews and documentation standards.
- Present technical results to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Support product cost-down initiatives while maintaining performance targets.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years in powertrain development, with hands-on experience in EV or hybrid propulsion.
- Proficiency in CAD (CATIA/SolidWorks) and modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Power).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and NVH.
- Experience with ISO 26262, DFMEA, and system safety requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
