Job description

DriveTech Motors is seeking a Senior Automotive Software Engineer to join our product development team in Detroit. You will design, implement, and validate embedded software for next generation ECUs, focusing on safety critical features, performance, and maintainability. This role blends hands-on development with system level engineering, collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver robust automotive software within an agile, standards driven environment.

At DriveTech, you will:

  • Lead the design and implementation of ECU software in C/C++ for automotive platforms.
  • Collaborate with hardware, safety and validation teams to ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and ASPICE.
  • Develop software architectures for real-time control, modeling and diagnostics functions.
  • Lead code reviews, unit tests, and integration testing across hardware in the loop setups.
  • Optimize performance, memory usage and power efficiency for automotive systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps.
  • Prepare technical documentation, release notes and traceability artifacts.

Responsibility

  • Architect and implement embedded software for ECUs using C/C++ and AUTOSAR.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver robust automotive software throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop safety critical features with deterministic behavior and fault handling.
  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and software integration in HIL environments.
  • Optimize software for performance, memory usage, and reliability.
  • Maintain clear documentation and version control practices.
  • Support validation and field debugging with engineering teams.

Qualification

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of embedded software development in automotive or safety critical industries.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, AUTOSAR, RTOS, and ECU development.
  • Strong knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet and automotive networking.
  • Experience with Linux, model based design (MATLAB/Simulink) and ALM tooling.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE and automotive safety processes.
  • Excellent problem solving, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Willingness to relocate or commute to Detroit, hybrid on-site 3 days per week.
