Job description

Searchasia is partnering with an established Biotech / Lifescience MNC to hire a Senior Buyer. In this role, you will lead strategic sourcing for direct and indirect materials, manage supplier performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted supply, quality, and cost competitiveness across our manufacturing operations in Singapore.

As a Senior Buyer, you will own end-to-end procurement processes including supplier qualification, RFQs, contract negotiations, and risk assessments. You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to optimize BOMs, manage lead times, and implement savings initiatives that support our client’s growth in a regulated biotech environment. You will also drive supplier performance scorecards, supplier development programs, and root-cause analysis to prevent defects and delays.

We are seeking a results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, demonstrates strong negotiation skills, and leverages data-driven insights to drive procurement excellence. This is an excellent opportunity to impact supply chain resilience in a multinational R&D and manufacturing context, delivering measurable value through cost avoidance, supplier rationalization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ideal candidates will have a track record of delivering cost savings while maintaining quality and compliance, with hands-on experience using ERP systems, supplier onboarding, and cross-functional collaboration in biotech or life sciences environments. If you are motivated by challenging targets, enjoy solving complex procurement problems, and thrive in a culturally diverse team, this role offers significant growth potential.

Responsibility

  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities for manufactured components and services, ensuring quality, on-time delivery, and cost targets.
  • Develop and execute supplier qualification, onboarding, and ongoing performance management programs.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers while maintaining compliance with GMP/ISO standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to optimize BOMs, change controls, and supplier change notices (SCN).
  • Maintain robust supplier risk assessments, contingency plans, and supplier diversity considerations.
  • Monitor procurement metrics (lead time, spend, backlogs) and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to identify cost savings, supplier rationalization, and value-based procurement strategies.
  • Leverage ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) for procurement workflows, master data management, and MRP planning.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
  • 5-7+ years of manufacturing procurement experience, preferably in biotech or life sciences.
  • Strong negotiation, analytics, and project-management skills with a track record of delivering cost savings.
  • Experience with GMP/ISO quality systems and supplier quality management (SQM).
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, contract pricing, and risk assessments.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and data analytics tools; advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; fluent in English.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed organization with high ethical standards.
