Job description
We are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join our Houston-based team. This role focuses on process design, optimization, and scale-up across multiple product lines within a safety-driven culture.
As a Senior Chemical Engineer, you will collaborate with operations, R&D, and maintenance to deliver reliable processes, reduce energy use, and improve yield. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures.
Responsibility
- Lead process design, optimization, and scale-up for chemical manufacturing operations from concept to commercialization.
- Develop and maintain PFDs and P&IDs; ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Perform mass and energy balances, process simulations, and risk assessments to drive performance improvements.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and project teams on capital projects and technology transfers.
- Identify energy-saving opportunities, solvent management, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers, review design deliverables, and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures.
- Support regulatory approvals and audit readiness with thorough documentation.
- Lead process safety initiatives and incident investigations as needed.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's preferred; PE licensure is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in chemical process engineering within manufacturing or petrochemical environments.
- Strong proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
- Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and process safety management (PSM).
- Solid understanding of process control, instrumentation, and equipment design.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
