Job description
Join a leading chemical engineering employer delivering innovative solutions for energy, specialty chemicals, and consumer products. Based in Houston, we combine rigorous process design with hands-on optimization to scale technologies from lab to plant reliably, safely, and economically.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform concepts into implementable, compliant processes that meet safety and environmental standards while driving value for customers and stakeholders.
We seek problem-solvers who blend technical excellence with practical execution, and who are passionate about sustainable engineering and continuous improvement.
Responsibility
- Lead process design, material and energy balances, and equipment selection for new and existing chemical plants.
- Perform process simulations, techno-economic analyses, and optimization studies to support capital projects and ROI justification.
- Scale-up lab discoveries to pilot and full-scale operations, including pilot testing, data analysis, and risk assessment.
- Contribute to safety and regulatory compliance, including PSM/OSHA elements and HAZOP participation.
- Optimize processes for yield, efficiency, energy consumption, and emissions reduction using robust optimization methodologies.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, supply chain, and maintenance to ensure reliable plant performance and smooth turnover.
- Prepare technical documentation, commissioning plans, and startup support for project handover.
Qualification
- BS in Chemical Engineering or higher; MS preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on process engineering experience in industrial chemical manufacturing.
- Proficiency with process simulation tools (Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and CHEMCAD).
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, kinetics, heat integration, and mass transfer.
- Experience with safety standards and regulatory compliance (PSM, OSHA, EPA) and conducting or participating in HAZOPs.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel to sites as needed and to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
