Job description

Join Aurora ChemTech Solutions, a leading innovator in sustainable chemical processing. We are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to lead process development, scale-up, and operations optimization across multiple product platforms. You will bridge R&D and manufacturing to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective chemical processes from concept to commercial production.

In this role, you will own end-to-end process design, perform rigorous techno-economic analyses, and guide capital project execution. You will mentor junior engineers, partner with cross-functional teams, and champion process safety and environmental stewardship.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes from lab bench to pilot plant and full-scale production.
  • Develop and implement process simulations (Aspen Plus/HYSYS/CHEMCAD) to optimize yield, energy use, and solvent recovery.
  • Perform P&ID development, mass and energy balances, and equipment selection to meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for process efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction; manage CAPEX/OPEX within approved budgets.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and HSE teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and robust process control strategies.
  • Conduct hazard analysis (HAZOP/What-If) and support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers; lead technical reviews, design critiques, and project planning with clear timelines.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • 5+ years of chemical/process engineering experience in petrochemical, specialty chemicals, or related industries.
  • Strong proficiency with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and data analytics.
  • Solid understanding of reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer, separation processes, and energy integration.
  • Experience with scale-up, pilot plant operations, and process safety management (HAZOP, PSM).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project-management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.
