Job description
Join Pioneer Chemical Technologies as a Senior Chemical Process Engineer in Houston, TX. Lead the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes for high-demand products while ensuring safety, compliance, and cost efficiency. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that blends rigorous engineering with practical manufacturing execution. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and strong professional growth opportunities.
You will collaborate with R&D, operations, and project management to deliver robust, scalable solutions from concept through commissioning, driving performance improvements and reliability across production assets.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes for high-volume production and specialty products.
- Develop and validate process models using Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or CHEMCAD; perform mass and energy balances and sensitivity analyses.
- Execute scale-up studies from lab and pilot plant to full-scale production, including reactor sizing, heat exchanger networks, and equipment specifications.
- Conduct process safety assessments (HAZOPs, PHAs, LOPAs) and ensure compliance with PSM, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and manufacturing to translate concepts into robust, safe, and economical processes; mentor junior engineers.
- Implement advanced process control, energy optimization, and waste reduction strategies to lower operating costs and carbon footprint.
- Prepare technical reports, FEED studies, and CAPEX justifications; support commissioning and start-up activities.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; Master’s preferred; 5+ years of industry experience in process engineering, design, or scale-up.
- Strong proficiency with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, CHEMCAD); CFD experience is a plus.
- Solid understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing (reactors, heat exchangers, separators, distillation).
- Experience with process safety management (HAZOP, PHA, LOPA) and regulatory compliance (PSM, EPA).
- Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills; proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects.
- Authorized to work in the United States; willingness to relocate to the Houston area if needed.
