We are looking for a Senior Editor to lead editorial strategy and oversee the production pipeline from acquisitions to final publication.
Based in New York City, this role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, collaborating with editors, designers, production teams, and marketers to deliver exceptional titles on schedule and within budget. Responsibility
- Lead the end-to-end editorial process for each publishing program, from acquisitions through final production.
- Collaborate with editors, designers, production teams, and marketers to plan and schedule titles.
- Manage a pipeline of manuscripts, assign tasks, and track milestones to ensure timely delivery.
- Develop and enforce editorial guidelines to uphold brand voice and house style.
- Oversee proofreading, copyediting, fact-checking, and metadata accuracy across all formats.
- Partner with marketing and sales to optimize discovery, positioning, and launch campaigns.
- Mentor junior editors, provide training on industry best practices, and build high-performing editorial teams.
Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of editorial experience in trade publishing or digital content development.
- Exceptional editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Proven ability to manage editorial calendars, production timelines, and cross-functional workflows.
- Successful track record in acquiring, developing, and delivering commercially viable titles.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management capabilities.
- Familiarity with metadata, indexing, ISBNs, rights management, and digital formatting.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
