Horizon Lane Publishing is seeking a results-driven Senior Editor to anchor editorial operations in our New York office. In this role, you will partner with authors, editors, designers, and marketing to curate a diverse catalog of literary fiction and non-fiction that resonates globally. You will own editorial standards, writing style guides, and production timelines to deliver outstanding books on schedule.

Responsibility
- Manage end-to-end editorial workflow from manuscript evaluation to final proofs, ensuring editorial quality and timely delivery.
- Lead acquisitions discussions with editors and authors; provide strategic guidance on manuscript development and market fit.
- Oversee production planning, including line edits, copy edits, proofs, design coordination, and vendor management.
- Develop and enforce internal style guides, QA checks, and metadata standards for print and digital formats.
- Collaborate with SEO, marketing, and rights teams to optimize discoverability and audience engagement across channels.
- Mentor junior editors and contribute to talent development within the publishing group.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, error rate, and reader engagement to continuously improve processes.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of editorial experience in trade publishing, with a proven track record of managing complex manuscripts and production schedules.
- Exceptional editing, proofreading, and copyediting skills, with a meticulous eye for consistency and voice.
- Strong project management abilities and experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and desktop publishing tools (e.g., InDesign); basic HTML/CSS knowledge a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with authors, agents, and internal stakeholders.
