We are seeking a Senior English-to-French Translator to join our Toronto-based team. This role focuses on high-quality localization for marketing, product, and documentation produced for Canadian audiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure consistency with our established terminology and style.
As a key contributor to our localization program, you will deliver precise, culturally appropriate translations, maintain glossaries and style guides, and drive QA across content lifecycles. This is a hybrid role with flexible hours and the opportunity to grow with a global provider.
Location: Hybrid (Toronto-based with some remote work).
Responsibility
- Translate and localize content from English to Canadian French for marketing, product, and documentation, ensuring natural language and cultural relevance.
- Maintain terminology standards by managing glossaries and style guides; update as needed.
- Edit and proofread translations for accuracy, consistency, and style; perform QA to detect and fix errors.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, legal, and engineering teams to understand context, deadlines, and regulatory requirements.
- Use CAT tools (Trados Studio, Memsource, XTM) to leverage translation memories and ensure efficiency.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing timely updates on progress and potential risks.
- Mentor junior translators and contribute to process improvements in localization workflows.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional English-to-French translation experience, ideally Canadian French.
- Proficiency with CAT tools (Trados Studio, Memsource, XTM) and QA workflows.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian French terminology, grammar, and style; excellent editing and proofreading skills.
- Experience localizing for software, marketing, and e-learning content; familiarity with UI/UX constraints.
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English and French; ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Professional certification in translation (e.g., ATA, ITI) is a plus.
