Job description
At NovaDrive Automotive Solutions, we’re redefining the future of mobility with advanced electric vehicles. We’re seeking a Senior EV Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, integration, and validation of high-voltage powertrains and vehicle control systems. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that collaborates with hardware, software, and test teams to deliver safe, scalable, and high-performance EV solutions.
Based in Detroit, MI, you’ll influence system design decisions, own critical interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, LIN), and ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and industry standards. If you’re passionate about electric propulsion, automotive electronics, and driving innovation in a fast-paced environment, we want you on our team.
Responsibility
- Lead the system architecture and requirements for high-voltage EV powertrain and vehicle control units.
- Define and manage interfaces (CAN-FD, Ethernet, LIN) and ensure robust data communication across subsystems.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and QA teams to translate customer and regulatory requirements into verifiable test plans.
- Oversee system-level verification and validation, including modeling, simulations (MATLAB/Simulink), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
- Drive safety-critical processes aligned with ISO 26262, including FMEA, safety case development, and traceability.
- Mentor junior engineers, review design documentation, and contribute to design reviews and change management.
- Support supplier integration and documentation, validating components against performance targets and reliability metrics.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of automotive electronics or EV systems experience, with hands-on development in power electronics, control software, or propulsion.
- Strong experience with CAN-FD, Ethernet, LIN, and automotive networks; proficient in MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools.
- Proven track record delivering system-level designs for EVs, including integration, validation, and test planning.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety, safety case development, and ASIL assessment.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach and strong analytical skills.
- Travel up to 15% for supplier visits and on-site testing as needed.
