As a Senior Experimental Physicist, you will lead experimental programs, design and assemble custom optical and cryogenic systems, and guide data collection and analysis. You will work closely with theorists and engineers to push the boundaries of measurement and sensor technology, contribute to grant proposals, and publish high-impact results.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, construction, and optimization of quantum sensing experiments and instrumentation.
- Develop and maintain complex experimental setups including optics, cryogenics, electronics, and data acquisition systems.
- Plan and execute data collection, calibration, and statistical analysis; interpret results with peers.
- Collaborate with theorists and engineers to translate concepts into testable experiments.
- Mentor graduate students and junior staff; supervise lab technicians and safety protocols.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations; contribute to grant proposals and manuscripts.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in the lab.
Qualification
- PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field; or equivalent experimental track record.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in experimental physics, preferably in quantum sensing or precision measurement.
- Extensive experience with optical systems, cryogenic environments, detectors, and data acquisition.
- Proficient in Python and MATLAB; experience with data analysis, statistics, and experimental design.
- Strong record of publications and presentations in peer-reviewed venues.
- Excellent collaboration, project management, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to design experiments, troubleshoot complex systems, and work in interdisciplinary teams.
