Weβre seeking a seasoned Intellectual Property Counsel to lead our IP strategy and protect cutting-edge technologies across global markets. This is a high-impact role that collaborates with product, engineering, and business teams to secure robust protection and maximize value.
As IP Counsel, you will partner with product and engineering leadership to shape invention strategies, perform risk assessments, and drive monetization opportunities while ensuring compliance with global IP laws.
Responsibility
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IP strategy across patent, trademark, and trade secret programs.
- Manage patent prosecution, office actions, and appeals; coordinate closely with external counsel.
- Oversee trademark clearance, registration, renewal, and brand protection across jurisdictions.
- Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and landscape monitoring for new products and features.
- Lead licensing negotiations, technology transfers, and collaboration agreements to maximize IP value.
- Provide IP risk assessments for product launches, partnerships, and M&A activities.
- Build inventor engagement programs and implement invention harvesting processes across R&D teams.
- Maintain IP governance, training, and processes to scale with company growth.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; bar admission in California or eligible to register.
- 5+ years of hands-on Intellectual Property practice with a focus on patent prosecution and trademark management; in-house tech experience preferred.
- Strong technical background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field; patent bar status is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with USPTO and EPO patent prosecution, PCT filings, and IP ecosystem globally.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to manage external counsel and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with ability to translate business goals into actionable IP programs.
- Knowledge of licensing, technology transfer, and IP litigation support best practices.
