As Senior Intellectual Property Counsel, you will advise on patent strategy, licensing negotiations, trademark protection, and IP due diligence across deals, partnerships, and product development initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep legal expertise with business acumen, a collaborative mindset, and a proven track record of safeguarding innovative technologies.

Responsibility
- Develop and implement comprehensive IP strategies for patents, trademarks, and copyrights that align with client business goals.
- Manage patent prosecution, including drafting, filing, office actions, and coordination with external counsel.
- Assess freedom-to-operate and perform patent landscape analyses to inform R&D and product development teams.
- Lead IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities; advise on risk mitigation.
- Lead trademark clearance, registration, monitoring, and enforcement programs; manage opposition and opposition proceedings when needed.
- Negotiate licensing, collaboration, and technology transfer agreements with third parties and strategic partners.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure IP protection in product development and go-to-market strategies.
- Supervise junior attorneys and IP paralegals; mentor and develop internal IP capabilities.
Qualification
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active New York bar admission or eligibility to obtain promptly.
- Minimum 6-9 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a strong patent and trademark background.
- Proven track record in patent prosecution, and experience with USPTO/EPO; familiarity with PCT is a plus.
- Experience with IP due diligence in M&A, licensing negotiations, and technology transfer.
- Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent negotiation, oral and written communication, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams; mentoring experience preferred.
