Responsibility
- Lead IP strategy and portfolio management, aligning with business goals and product roadmap.
- Draft, prosecute, and maintain domestic and international patent portfolios across software, AI, hardware, and semiconductor domains.
- Manage trademark strategy, clearance, enforcement, and brand protection across markets.
- Conduct IP diligence for M&A, partnerships, and licensing; assess freedom-to-operate and infringement risks.
- Collaborate with R&D and product teams to embed IP considerations in development lifecycles and go-to-market plans.
- Oversee external counsel relationships, budgets, and project deliverables; ensure high-quality work and timely filings.
- Monitor IP landscape and competitive intelligence; provide risk mitigation recommendations and strategy adjustments.
- Develop and deliver IP training and awareness programs for employees and leadership.
Qualification
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission in California or equivalent; 5+ years of IP experience in-house or at a law firm.
- Proven patent prosecution experience before the USPTO; international filing experience a plus.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing IP portfolios, budgets, and interactions with outside counsel; adept at project management.
- Technical familiarity with software, AI, hardware, and semiconductor domains; knowledge of licensing, FTO, and enforcement strategies.
- Strategic thinker with business acumen and collaborative leadership; excellent negotiation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed; thrive in a fast-paced, global tech environment.
