Job description

Join a fast-growing, technology-driven legal team in New York City. NovaTech IP Solutions seeks a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to protect and maximize our global IP portfolio across patents, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing programs. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to align IP strategy with business goals, while leading external counsel on complex matters.

Responsibility

  • Develop and execute comprehensive IP strategy to protect and monetize the company’s innovations across hardware and software platforms.
  • Lead patent portfolio strategy: drafting, prosecuting, and managing filings in the US and international jurisdictions; coordinate with outside patent counsel.
  • Oversee trademark clearance, registration, maintenance, and enforcement; manage brand protection initiatives.
  • Negotiate and draft IP licensing, collaboration, and technology transfer agreements; support business development and partnerships.
  • Conduct IP due diligence for M&A, investments, and strategic partnerships; assess risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor IP litigations and coordinate with outside counsel; advise on risk mitigation and settlement strategies.
  • Educate and counsel product teams on IP risk, policy, and best practices; develop internal IP training.

Qualification

  • J.D. or equivalent degree; active bar admission (NY preferred).
  • Minimum 5+ years of IP law experience in technology-driven environments, with a strong patent prosecution track record.
  • Proficient in US and international patent prosecution; familiarity with PCT and foreign filing strategies.
  • Solid experience with trademark clearance, registration, and IP licensing transactions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills; proven ability to manage relationships with outside counsel.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple matters, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
