NorthBridge Innovations is a fast-growing technology company dedicated to protecting innovation and delivering world-class products. We are seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to lead our IP strategy, patent portfolio, and trademark enforcement globally. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape product development and partnerships while collaborating with R&D, product, and senior leadership.
As a key member of the legal team, you will partner with engineering, product, and business teams to safeguard our technologies and brand across multiple jurisdictions. You will own the end to end IP program, mentor junior team members, and influence strategic decisions that impact the company's growth.
Responsibility
- Lead the strategy and management of the company-wide IP portfolio including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.
- Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and international offices; supervise outside counsel as needed.
- Conduct freedom to operate, patent landscape, and clearance analyses to support product roadmaps and partnerships.
- Advise on IP protection for new products, features, and business models; ensure alignment with regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Oversee trademark clearance, filing, maintenance, enforcement, and brand protection across markets.
- Manage IP risk, licensing negotiations, and technology transfer agreements with strategic partners.
- Lead IP due diligence for M&A, fundraising, and strategic partnerships; coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Develop and deliver IP training and best practices to internal teams; mentor junior IP associates.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school; active bar admission in Washington State or ability to register in-house.
- Patent attorney registration with the USPTO or eligible and committed to registration within the first year.
- Minimum 3-6 years of intellectual property experience, preferably in a technology company or IP-focused law firm.
- Strong patent drafting and prosecution skills; experience with software, hardware, or related technology platforms.
- Solid experience with trademark prosecution, clearance, and enforcement; knowledge of global IP regimes.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; proven ability to collaborate with R&D, product, and business teams.
- Ability to manage a high-volume IP docket with attention to detail and strong project management.
- Experience with IP due diligence in M&A, licensing, and partnerships; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
